Studying and Listening

"You need to know what God has said in order to know what God is saying"

I heard the above quote (I'm not sure who it was) but thought that it was simple yet held a rich lessons for us. It both encourages us to Study the Scripture and tells us how we can know God's communication with us.

A really good statment, Gary, and one which needs to be repeated often. Sometimes 'the Lord told me' can carry an authority which overides Scripture with some folks.

Yeh, I agree, and think is very sad that anything should take primacy above scripture. Everything that 'the Lord told me' ought to be tested and tried by scripture.

What He says now will never contradict what He has said!
