Christmas Leaves Us Thirsting For More

0
Christmas is great! I love it more than ever now i have children. For many people it is 'a', if not 'the' focal point of the year. But for many, maybe even the same people, the joy turns to post-christmas blues and/or months of debt.

Beware of placing our hopes in the season and gifts to bring us joy, for when the wrapping paper is in the bin and the turkey sambos are all but a memory, that joy brought by parties and gifts, friends and food will flicker and fade. That's why the January sales are so busy; because everyone still wants more!

Jesus words about physical water stand true, perhaps evidently so in after Christmas when the tree comes down & all those gifts move from the sitting room into the cupboards & toy chests, and our homes, while tidy now looks bare & empty.
Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
(John 4:13-14 ESV)
