Nigerian Martyrs

A friend working in Nigeria kindly forwarded information about the recent killings of Christians in Nigeria.

(You can read the full Newspaper account here).

3 pastors were beheaded because they refused to turn from Christ and embrace Islam. Others were fortunate to be released in the night with a warning not to mix with infidels.

Further eye-witness accounts tell that one of these pastors, the late Pastor George Orjih, preached Christ to Mohammed Yusuf, the sect leader who then in anger ordered that the pastor and others be killed immediately.

Prayer
Pray for the families of these men who are grieving in loss.
Pray for the Churches these men served.
Thank Christ that He gave them grace to stand faithful in such circumstances.
Pray that their blood would cry out as a testimony of that great blood of Jesus that was shed for us. And that even through this many would would come to Christ.
Pray that the Christians would not be crippled with fear, but that God would strengthen & encourage them, embolden them to courageously continue in faith.

Speaking at the funeral of Rev. Sabo Yakubu, Rev Bulus Azi, the regional chairman of COCIN, urged Christians to emulate the pastors who were killed because of their refusal to betray their faith. Quoting from the bible in Revelation 7: 9-15, he told Christians to prepare to die anytime as their calling demand.
