Ragamuffin Soul shared this quote from Michael Jordan a while back and I thought I'd bring it up again. Its a pretty challenging statement, not just in regards to sport but across a variety of aspects of life. We live in a culture of ease & comfort. So often when things get difficult we just throw in the towel & walk away to seek after a safer thing. We are not accustomed to perseverance.
This can be said of the Christian life as well:
Take for example evangelism; we could spend some time walking the streets, visiting neighbours & telling them of the Gospel to be met with mockery & rejection. At this point there's a choice;

Whatever the arena we find ourselves in, there is one certainty; we will hit difficulties, hardship & perhaps persecution, mockery & rejection.
Lets persevere onward, knowing that our efforts are not in vain if we do them as unto the Lord.
