in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God.
And they shall dwell secure, for now [Jesus] shall be great
to the ends of the earth.
And [Jesus] shall be a their peace."
Micah 5:4-5a
This text greatly thrilled me yesterday, it was plainly talking about the promised Messiah; Jesus, and so I replaced 'he' with 'Jesus'. What a text, what a promise & what hope is given here. Here are the main issues that I saw in this text & the relative New Testament texts that they made me think of:
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John 8:54 "Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’"
John 14:11 "Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves."
Romans 8:31 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
For your sake we are being killed all the day long;we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."
Romans 14:11 "for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”"
Romans 5:1 "Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."
