Who Influences you?

0
Who Influenced Us?
We are all influenced by others, and from a very early age. Parents, family, teachers, children workers, friends, employers, TV & film or sports stars etc. There are many influences upon our lives that help shape and direct our lives & indeed who we are.

Just think about it:
Who influenced the language you speak?
Who influenced the occupation you chose?
Who influenced the style of clothes you wear or the way you style your hair?
Who influenced what you do for fun, introducing you to activities and past-times previously unknown to you?
Who influenced the music you listen & like?

Just a cursory look around shows the influence that film & the pop-culture have had upon society at large, but there are many more influences upon us that shape & direct us.

Jesus is the Greatest Influence
Undoubtedly the most influential person throughout history has been Jesus; more songs have been written about & to Him than any other person. His influence extends throughout art, music, books & much more. Like it or not Jesus has influenced laws, governments & even the calender which revolves around His birth (A.D. & B.C.).
His 33 years of living, teaching and sacrifice have completely changed the world and will continue to affect us in many areas.

Is He My Greatest Influence?
But is Jesus really the most influential person on me or upon you as an individual?
Is He the one who influences our lifestyles, where we go, what we do, how we act, respond, speak, live?
Or do others hold the main influence upon us, and upon the way we live our lives?

Why do we 'do' Christianity?
Do we 'do' Christianity because the pastor or parents tell us what we should do; Because it's right; or because its what we've been brought up to do?
Or
Is it because Jesus holds so much of our affection, attention and so much of our lives that it is indeed His influence that leads us into Spirit Filled lives that follow His ways, obeying His commands, taking Him serious. And we don't simply 'do' Christianity but Christianity actually 'does' us?
