What DVD's Do You Re-Watch?

15
I greatly enjoy film & TV and untill recently I had a pretty large DVD collection. But the problem was that niether Barbara nor I would re-watch the films we owned, rather we rented or bought more - so we decided to sell our DVD's making a tidy little amount at CEX. As we went through them I had to resist the urge to keep alot of the films & finally settled to keep only two - Batman Begins and Band of Brothers.
In other genres of DVD I have a few Passion DVD's which get well watched - One Day probably being the most watched DVD I own - Its class for the soul).

So far I have rewatched Band of Brothers and flicked through the action scenes of Batman.
But I thought I'd ask you about this:

What DVD's do you actually re-watch?

I thought I might start it off by re-stating that I have watche Band of Brothers a few times - This for me is the ultimate war series - bringing true accounts and interviews from the real men of easy company to our screens.

Batman Begins - well that's just Batman!

I've also re-watched 24 but no longer feel it nessessary to own them so they went on ebay. I'll rent the next series when it comes out (or borrow it).

I reckon there'll be a few who watch that Gary. What a win¬!

[Just edited the post to make it broader than just film - I hadn't really intended to make it 'Film' but just seemed to write it that way, I had meant to include all genre of DVD's.]

I don't have a collection of DVD's at all really, but if I did here's what I would watch and re-watch I think (some I have seen a few times):

No particular order:

Last of the Mohicans - simply superb music and cinematography.

Gladiator - I think the best, most enthralling film I have ever see.

The Pianist - watched this the other night, everybody should be MADE watch this film before they leave secondary school.

Band of Brothers (actually watched the documentary last night after PM!)....I agree this is astonishingly brilliant, accurate, inspiring, emotive, technically superb....all we need now is someone to film Pegasus Bridge - again by Stephen Ambrose...REAL men.

Saving Private Ryan - the first 10 miniutes is without question - the best 10 minutes of ANY FILM EVER and probably ever will be.

Schindler's List

The Mission (even though it is about RC'S)

Lord of the Rings

Gettysburg & Of God's and Generals (hard to get over here) - the latter is about Stonewall Jackson's sturdy faith as much as anything else).

I could probably go on.

I laugh at the statement after The Mission!

The rest are class - understand why you would re-watch them - though I haven't seen The Pianist; if its on tv again I may watch it at your recommendation.

I watched it on DVD, it's actually from 2002.

About a Jewish pianist in Warsaw during WW2....not a pleasant film, but very moving. Emphasizes in my mind both the depravity of man, yet the beauty of God's creation in the midst of that.

Not everybody's cup of tea, but you may enjoy it.

We don't watch TV/movies often, but some of our favorite re-watches are:

All the Jane Austen movies

Remember the Titans

LOTR

13 Going On 30

In December, tons of Christmas movies.

And without the kids...all the M. Night Shyamalan; except Lady in the Water, of course.

Remember the Titans is class!

I've watched the departed several times, although to my shame i don't own the Dvd, just a dodgy copy someone put on my laptop for me!

Due to my exceeding old age - I'm more of a VCR man than a DVD one.
Having said that I have never bought any videos or dvds - i just rent them every couple of years - when my kids decide to actually go to sleep before dawn.
And there is one film I have watched on video tape more than any other film - in fact I would say I have watched it at least 10 times. It can only be that all time classic 'Dumb & Dumber.'
I'm actually laughing as I write this and think of some of the exceedingly funny bits in it.

I agree with Tim on the Dumb and Dumber front, indeed a classic! I cant remember how many times I watched that film. I also agree with Swade on shooter being a great re-watchable film too. I would add in Ultimate Force and 24, both tv series, great!
