The Highest of All

0
When seeking to serve Christ, the challenges we face can often leave us feeling overwhelmed. At times we feel the weight of our own weaknesses and the limits of our ability. Such thoughts and feelings cause us to reach a point close to fainting. However, again and again in Scripture our focus is directed away from ourselves toward the God of all strength - the one who never slumbers nor sleeps. In Psalm 61 the Psalmist prays a model prayer for us when he asks God to lead him to the source of all strength:

Psalm 61:1-2

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
