Do We want To Risk Missing Out

2
"I was struck with my brother Archibald Brown's observation, that he bethought himself that unless he read the Scriptures through from end to end there might be inspired teachings which had never been known to him, and so he resolved to read the books in their order; and, having done so once, he continued the habit.
Have we, any of us, omitted to do this?"

C.H. Spurgeon

No one likes to miss out on something. When there's strawberrie sponge cake on the go, its a terrible thing when you come to the plate to find it all gone. Or if ever there was a tax rebate in which you received 100% of your past years tax back, we'd feel awful if we missed the final date for claiming it.
But more important than any of these is the Word of God, more important than anything else on earth; than gold, silver etc... For by the Bible God, the creator, the Infinite God speaks to us and makes Himself known.

But so often we don't treasure the Scriptures as precious. We do not delight in them, or thirst for them. Rather we neglect this Book, perhaps reading a few verses in bed before we sleep, treating it lightly.

I thought Spurgeon's statement about his friend Archibald was pretty challenging for us. If we do not read ALL of the Bible, we risk missing out on some of the 'gold' of inspired teachings that awaits there for us. We risk missing out on a closer walk with Christ & may miss some revelation about God, that would deepen our love for Him.

"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb."

Psalm 19:7-10

Its a continual struggle to place higher value to the Word of God than to even TV.
This is something I really need to work at and repent alot over my failures in.
