Building a wall

0
Building a wall doesn't seem like a huge task but years ago when the Mourne wall was built there were no diggers, tractors or cranes accessible, everything was done by hand. These men crafted the wall from natural granite stone and between the years 1904 &1922 built this 22 mile long wall.

This art is amazing, as I looked at the picture here (which isn't 'the' mourne wall) I am left astounded at the craftsmanship of placing different shapes & sizes of stones together, with no cement in such a way that it is still standing today.

In thinking about this my mind has went to THE Master Craftsman, Jesus, who is working with rough, unshapely stones. Each of us who are His followers are unique and different in many ways. But He is using us to build His church, to be the bricks by which He leaves a landmark to the world pointing to Him!

At times it is difficult to see how we could possibly be placed beside some others, yet in His mercy and in His wisdom that is exactly what He does, some of us may look small in comparison to others, yet Christ uses us all as one body, as one building to glorify Himself. Each rock, brick or bolder is needed, take even one of the smaller ones out of the wall above and that section may collapse.

All this as an illustration to say that we work best when we are part of a Christian community (local church), working in unison with our unique personalities, talents and gifts for one goal and that goal of worshiping God and making Christ's fame, worth and His Gospel spread through this earth so that many others may repent, believe and join this building.
