Unfailing Mission - Part 1

0
I'm preaching for Every Home Crusade on Sunday night coming (18th November).
As I was looking over the message and praying for it I thought I might post a short part from the beginning here as a sort of preview of that message. I know that the only possible person who'll be there and may read this will be my boss Samuel, so I hope that it is enjoyed by some others (and Sam, if you do read this, that it doesn't cause you to cancel me and ask one of the other guys who'd probably do a better job).

Unfailing Mission

James 4:13&14
”Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

In these verses God is reminding us that we are not all knowing and that nothing in life is sure!

I think if we’re all honest we will admit that there’s very little in this life that we can be certain of; Businesses fail, educational hopes can fail, friendships fail, even marriages fail. Health, wealth, governments, heroes, hopes, aspirations – all fail.

And at risk of sounding like a manic depressant- there isn’t a lot we can do about it!
Our lives are not within our control!

So in a world full of failure and failings and unsurity; when something is sure and certain and cannot fail it is something not only to involve ourselves with but to delight and pour our energy into.
Turn with me please to Matthew 28:18

”And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Here we have what we know as the great commission, the command from Jesus to go and tell everyone the Gospel or Good News about Him, this is a command for every single Christian, to share the Gospel and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

And it cannot fail!

I’ll explain why it cannot fail in a moment but for now I want to share briefly what this Good News or this Gospel is in case there is anyone here tonight who is not a Christian or who has not heard.
Simply put I would explain it in four steps;
God:- God is eternal, holy and Perfect, He made everything in six days and He made it perfect.
Man:- Man was made by God but the first man Adam sinned (disobeyed) God and because of that we are all separated from God and we are all sinners condemned to death and eternal punishment from God. (We have all sinned against God). “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
Christ:- Because of our separation and sin Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son of God left heaven and came to Earth, lived a completely holy and righteous life, fulfilling God's law for us, died on the cross taking God's wrath over our sin and arose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.
Response:- Our response to Christ's righteous life and propitiatory death (taking our place, taking the punishment we were due) ought to be sorrow over our sinful and separated state in which we are enemies of God, repentance over our sin, and belief in Jesus Christ who took our punishment. Further response is to love Him and live according to His commands.

This is the basics, or an outline of the Gospel that we Christians are called to tell others, that God wants each and every person to hear and know, and the Gospel that I believe will not fail to be spread through out the world to every nation, tribe and tongue.

I say that Missions cannot fail because Jesus said so...

If you want more come to the meeting at knocknadona hall (or wait to next week when I'll probably post it here).
