“Though our iniquities testify against us,
act, O LORD, for your name's sake;
for our backslidings are many;
we have sinned against you.
O you hope of Israel,
its savior in time of trouble..."
We sin by omission (when we don't even realize it) and as acts of commission (when we willingly rebel against Him). All these condemn us and call out for our punishment in accordance with the law.
Thankfully God has acted on our behalf and we read in Colossians 2:13b -14 that God has made us:
"alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the cross."
The good news is that while my sin, while your sin would condemn us to hell, Jesus paid the court sentence of our death so that we may live with Him.
Let's continue our war against sin all the while rejoicing in Christ's victory
