There are some sermon series that stick in your mind. Two that stand out in my own memory are:
Matt Chandler's Ecclesiastes series
John Piper's Galatians series
If you look at the Bible I used back when I made my way slowly through these you'll find endless notes scribbled.

Mark Driscoll's series on Luke is fantastic, though I still have a bit to finish - 90 sermons in all!
