Ethiopian Orthodox Distributing Gospels

3
Sam & Gary are just back from Ethiopia and showed pictures & video this morning. It was amazing to hear and see of how the Ethiopian orthodox church has given permission for Gospels & New Testaments to be given out and actively get involved in their distribution.

With ripples already beginning i wonder how long it will last, but praise God for this tremendous shift as people are receiving God's Word in their own language for the first time . . . and with blessing from those who usually oppose . . .

I meant to ask this when you first posted. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church uses an Old Testament canon that has even more books than the Catholic one, as I recall. Presumably your friends' translation uses the Protestant canon. How did that go over with the Orthodox? Or is their translation limited to the New Testament anyway and so the problem doesn't arise?

Just curious.

So far it's just the N.T. but they've agreed to a Bible (when translation is done & several N.Testaments for each church.
It's a weird one, and while the leadership of the church there have agreed to it and endorse it, it probably wont last long as people are beginning to move and opposition has begun in the orthodox against it.
But for now, it's class they're receiving the New Testament in their language

No argument there!
