I'm Adopted By God - Oh That I'd Live Like It

1
"In Christ He offers all happiness in place of our misery, all wealth in place of our neediness; in Him He opens to us the heavenly treasures that our whole faith may contemplate His beloved Son, our whole expectation depend upon Him, and our whole hope cleave to and rest in Him . . . Whatever we need and whatever we lack is in our Lord Jesus Christ . . . it remains for us to seek in Him, and in prayers to ask of Him, what we have learned to be in Him."
John Calvin

I spent a huge amount of time contemplating the last couple of lines in the statement above; "whatever we lack is in our Lord Jesus Christ . . . it remains for us to seek in Him, and in prayers to ask of Him, what we have learned to be in Him."
Last night i sat up way too late futtering about at this and that before my thoughts hit back to this but it was then that i had a thought that excited me about asking God for it.

What have i learned to be in Christ?
"He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will . . ." [Ephesians 1:5]One of the biggest things i've learned (or heard) is that we (i) have been adopted by God through Christ.

Oh that i may know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent; know them in the way & relationship; the closeness & experiential way of one who is adopted.
Not far off; not in the way a child knows a sponsor from another country; not in a 'social services have shoved me into this house with these strangers' sort of way! But in the fullness of adoption; in the 'He actually likes me and wants me as His child' way.
In the way family is supposed to be!

And may i actually live as one adopted by the living God!
