Some things i'm picking up are:
- They aren't so much interested in doing things (eg peddling a bike) in the right and correct manner, as they are concerned with enjoying the way they are doing it.
- They hide in the same spot during hide & seek because they want you to find them and tickle them.
- They just want to be snuggled beside you, hence they crawl into your bed - they'll grow out of this and you'll wish you'd let them stay more often.
- They really mean what they pray, no front, no finesse, no lip service, just pure talk flowing from whats on their mind at the time.
- They would rather be running about the garden with mum and dad than sat in front of the tv.
- Fun = lasting memory
- They don't understand 'no' and the ensuing temper tantrum needs dealt with so they don't grow up to be spoiled and unlikeable, center of their own universe, selfish hallions.
- If it's high, it's a challenge to be climbed.
- If it's sharp it's for playing with.
- If it's water it's there to squirt or throw around dad.
- Vegetable patches are there to be used as the alternative to a sandpit, who cares about uprooting the spuds.
- They love dad because he plays with them*
Perhaps we could do well to take a leaf out of their book, and whilst not ignoring our responsibilities, let our hair down and have some fun. We could also remember the word 'fun' when dealing with kids.
