Religious Views: Facebook Status

0
Being almost completely surrounded by non-christians does not mean we end up growing cold . . . it may actually mean we need to become stronger and more vocally clear.

A friend recently wrote to me about their Facebook status under 'Religious Views'
"i need to put something with a bit more explanation in there, as 'i love jesus' is true but a bit vague"
When my friend was at home, surrounded primarily by christians 'I love Jesus' was enough for most people to understand. But moving to a different culture meant that this was no longer enough of an explanation.

Here's what she now *says:
  • i believe that God is holy
  • I believe that the Bible is the Word of God which tells us that everyone has sinned, or done wrong, and are therefore unacceptable in his sight.
  • i believe that Jesus is the son of God, and he suffered an unbelievably cruel death so that we have an opportunity to have our sins forgiven and spend eternity with our Father in heaven (rather than an eternity in hell).
  • it is by grace, God's gift to us that we don't deserve, that i have a hope and a future.
  • you may think i am strange, but i need you to know what i believe so that you can decide for yourself. you will die, it's inevitable, are you ready??

*It wouldn't fit under 'religious views' so she posted under 'about . . .'
