But what they don't say, what they don't have to tell you and what they are probably bottling up is that this week has brought them face to face with such things as temptation, difficulties, sadness, loneliness, anxiety, hardships, disappointments or some disaster.
We don't need to know them, we don't even need to know about their week, but we can silently and *without them knowing, pray for them. I'm thinking of the person on the seat beside us in church.
Some thoughts of how we could pray for them
- That, if they don't already know Jesus, they may see Him as Lord & Saviour, repent of sins and follow Him.
- That they'd know and love Jesus more as a result of His word.
- That they'd be kept from sin and have victory over temptation.
- That during difficulties God would draw close and comfort them.
- That Christ's peace would fill their souls so that He would be a great joy in the midst of life.
- That the Spirit would stir them toward the Word of Christ so they may drink deeply from the waters of His word.
- That they may live by faith amidst the hardships and distractions of daily life.
*Perhaps it might be encouraging for them if after the service you shared with them that you'd been praying for them . . . or perhaps it might freak them out.
