Prayer

0
This week everyone i seem to get in conversation with is talking about prayer. I even disturbed a friend as he was praying through part of his Bible. Convicting or what!
This is a problem, because honestly, i suck at prayer.
I don't pray as often as i should and while i 'fill the gaps' (snatching a prayer here and there) i don't set aside time to really just seek God in a quiet place.

So far i've heard:
  • The closet or room which Jesus encouraged us to enter to pray, was not the general word for 'room' but for the storeroom (larder) in the middle of the house which hadn't even got a window.
  • A missionary friend was telling me of how Nigerians pray before everything; work, interviews, you name it . . .
  • Thankfully i'm not the only one who struggles and falls short in this area as other friends have shared their own shortfalls.
  • Hudson Taylor's mum, while away from home, entered a room to pray with a burden to keep going until God saved her son. After a long time praying she felt that God had answered, and 2 weeks later arrived home to confirmation of God's work.
  • I've also been encouraged by having prayers in the Bible pointed out to me, which, a few are answered a few verses later. (I'm grateful for this friend's encouragement in this area)

The thing is that until today i haven't mentioned this weeks bombardment, so not one of these guys know about the other's conversation with me. But it's a welcome prod, and i can only hope that by Christ's work in me i can pray better as a result.
