Unattractive Obedience

1
Unattractive Obedience (a term i heard recently from Darrin Patrick) is definately something i've been hugely guilty of.

It's when we obey the moral call of God - but without any joy!

Yes there are & will be times when we struggle with difficult obedience but this is not a place to live.

For some of us (Christains) we seem to dwell in a constant state of gloom.
We go to church, read our Bibles, say our prayer. We abstain from alcohol, cursing and premarital sex. We may even preach on the streets, hand out tracts, or write blogs; but our whole demeanor is depressive.

We talk of the joy of the LORD in a tone that is suited more to lamentation and woe.
What unattractive obedience this is, and i'm sure few outsiders believe the words of our mouth over the word of our expressions.

What to do about it?
I don't really know, i simply got my butt kicked by the above and figured i'd pass it on here. Perhaps the cry of David could be our prayer; "Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation" along with the renewal & re-alignment of our mindset through the Word of God.

I like that phrase, though it saddens me to agree that WAY too many church-goers "obey" in this way.

Thanks for the post.
