Recommended Study: Ligonier Academy

3
I think every Christian has a desire to study the Bible and today I thought i'd highlight one option open to every believer:

 The Ligonier Certificate Program.
Unapologetically reformed, The Ligonier Academy is committed to teaching Christians to "think deeply, critically, and obediently about every aspect of faith by mining the riches of Scripture."
Led by R.C. Sproul and Dr. Fowler White the faculty of scholars and theologians offer many avenues of study, but it is the Certificate Program I want to highlight here.

The Certificate Program is a long-distance, non-degree course that is specifically designed for those 'who desire a structured way to study biblical and theological subjects at their own pace, at their own level of interest, and in their own home'.

There are 3 levels of study within this program:  Introductory, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Within each of level there are various subjects to choose from:

Introductory
Apologetics
Biblical Studies
Philosophy
Theology

Intermediate
Apologetics
Biblical Studies
Church History
Philosophy
Systematic Theology

Advanced
Apologetics
Biblical Studies
Christian Studies
Church History
Ethics
Historical Theology
Philosophy
Systematic Theology
Theology of the Westminster Confession

Further details about the Certificate Program can be found on the Ligonier website.

Would I recommend this option of studying God's Word to you?
Without hesitation!
Not only do the experienced the men behind it make this a hugely respected course of study, but even a glance through each course's syllabus reveal the high standard, commitment to Biblical truth and Christ-centeredness that sets this apart as a great long-distance means of study and Christian growth.

Thanks for posting this, Gary! I'll have to look into it. Just out of curiosity - have you completed any of the three?

BTW, I've launched a new blog (though I'll keep the other as well):

http://pressontowardthemark.wordpress.com

My plan is to post 1-2 times per week. We shall see!

i haven't completed any of the courses, just working my way through Biblical Studies (advanced). Submitted the 1st section of this, completed the 2nd (not submitted yet) and i'm currently working my way through the 3rd section. On average it takes about 3 years, and i only began in July, so loads more to do.

Looking forward to reading the new blog. (will you still update 'aragamuffin'?

Yes, I do plan to keep A Ragamuffin's Reflections and it will most likely continue to be a "catch all" blog. I'm just going to make an attempt at writing a blog with a specific, stated purpose.
