A while back I jumped into a discussion in order to question some unBiblical advice that was using a lot of out of context verses. However in the discussion i completely lost sight of the soul that was in need and focused only in defending truth.
Later someone else stepped in with the words "Keep trusting Him" and 'Bam' went my mind as I realized my own foolishness. In pursuit of sound doctrine i'd forgotten to apply it to the situation. I defended against wrong teaching but neglected to pour out theologically informed compassion and love to the person in need.
How easy it was and is for me to do this, and how wrong!
It is right to defend truth and refute error, but in doing this i should not leave the other undone.
