There she stood, a vision of beauty illuminated by the flames of the bonfire that stood between us. The reflection made her eyes dance with blazing brightness, and in that moment, and for some unknown reason (perhaps in divine providence) everyone else had moved away so that she stood on her own, even the smoke had blown in a different direction.
The fire lit her up so she was visible against the darkness of night that was all around, and she was undeniably beautiful.
My heart beat faster as the realization hit me of this girls maturity from the teenager i had first met, into the woman who now stood there as beautiful a lady as God had ever fashioned.
This is a moment burned deeply into my memory, as though the bonfire itself has seared it to my brain. It is when, for the first time i was blown away by Barbara. And the great thing is; i am now married to that lady, and after five years of marriage along with 2 kids (& another 2 in heaven) she is still as magnificent a vision to me as that night way back.
Thank you Barbara for giving me your heart, and captivating mine.
