'They' Really Need the LORD!

2
A conversation, or rather a small phrase at the end of a conversation with a friend has stuck in my mind. In talking of someone else, my friend finished by saying 'They really need the Lord!'

There's nothing wrong with that statement, in fact it is true that this peron needes Jesus to break into their lives to redeem them and make them His own. But it struck me that sometimes we talk of 'them' and 'us'; the saved and the unsaved. 'They' need Jesus and 'we' have Him!
But i'm not so sure if that's right.

I really need Jesus!
You see, i am more aware of my own need for Jesus than of anyone elses need for Him. Yes i trust in Him for salvation and sanctification. But there's this whole other part of me that knows i need Him more and more. I need to know Him, be known by Him. I need His Word to dwell in me and His Spirit to fill me.
I really need Jesus!

What am i saying?
I dunno, i guess i'm more thinking that it's not 'them' and 'us'. I'm thinking that what 'they' need is exactly what i need in a deep and on going way.
We all need Jesus!

Very good point and very true.

I've just started preparing for a message on Luke 18:9-17 I'll be preaching in a few weeks, God permitting. It's The parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector which is followed by the story of Infants being brought to Jesus. I'm going to preach the two sections together to show how we all need his mercy and we all depend on him like a baby depends on it's mother.

It's a more evangelistic meeting, but there will most likely be more Christians there. I think your point is a good one and that I will focus my message as much on Christians as 'non-Christians' and point out that we all need and depend on God's mercy.

I might read this post as part of it if that's okay?

"Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child shall not enter it." - Luke 18:17

I'm thinking. When we evangelise do we give the impression that we need Jesus just as much as the person/people we're sharing the gospel with? Or do we give the impression that only they need Jesus.

I know that, for me anyway, my evangelism often, if not always gives the impression that 'they' need Jesus and not me. That's a bit worrying! It's maybe not what i feel, but often how it comes across.

I guess one reason may be that we're focussing on others and not so much feeling it ourselves (if that makes sense)

But i think i'm going to have to work through this and change that so i'm inviting others to join me in understanding the need for grace through Christ.

How's the work going there?
Do you know of any elim churches around Wexford?
