Living Life To The. . .

0
. . .Full 'Fool'
Wouldn't it be great to throw away all the rules of reading Scripture and take it out of context:
  • We could read Judges 9:21, where Jotham 'fled and went to Beer and lived there' (ESV) as a great sermon on how we can flee to beer and become alcoholics.
  • Or 2 Kings 9:20 where it says 'And the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he drives furiously' (ESV) as an excuse when we're pulled over by the police; "Yes officer, well...i ran the red light because God in His word gives a great example..."
  • We could read John 21:7 when Simon Peter 'put on some clothes, because he was naked, and jumped into the sea.' (KJV) and open a nudist beach where swimming and fishing are the main activities . . .watch your tackle . . . (Sorry i couldn't resist that joke)
[Isaiah 20:3-4 may be further references for this]
  • Jeremiah 13:1 is certainly a great text for 'Camps'. I've met loads of boys at camp who must take Jeremiah as their hero since they do not change or wash their pants.
  • Or if you're accused of being a boring preacher you can always use Acts 20:9 where Eutychus Falls asleep while Paul's preaching, as your excuse.

Then again, loads of people do take it way out of context. Let's abide faithful
