"Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them."
Luke 12:37
I heard Piper mention this verse and it has been bugging me ever since.
When i think of Jesus' return i think of blazing eyes, sword from mouth, blood splattered garments. I think of a host of angels and saints behind Him as He sets up His kingdom.
I don't see Him putting on an apron and serving our tables!
I'm not sure why i'm so uneasy with this thought. I guess it's to do with an ongoing struggle with grace and the desire to work and serve for it.
I guess this verse slaps my face with 'too much grace' and confronts me with the fact that it's all from Jesus.
I feel like saying that i'll take the tray round, since it is the Messianic banquet after all, and as such, all about Jesus. He should go and sit in prime place.
Yet, grace intervenes and has us sit, and Him serve!
Grace truly is Amazing.
