The Good Samaritan ~ A Parable of Christ

2

The good Samaritan is a picture of Christ:
  • Christ journeyed from His home, as the good Samaritan did.
  • Christ has compassion on the helpless (us), as the Samaritan had on the man who was beaten and robbed.
  • Christ binds up the broken hearted and heals, just as the Samaritan bound the mans injuries.
  • Christ took the expense of our salvation, just as the Samaritan took this mans.
  • Christ leaves the Spirit to heal and help us while He is gone, just as the Samaritan leaves the man in the innkeepers care.
  • Christ will come again, just as the Samaritan says he will come again.
  • Christ will give rewards when He returns, just as the Samaritan promises further payment to the Innkeeper.
  • Christ bids us to follow Him, a more perfect calling than the call to follow the Samaritan's example.

As many times as I've heard and told the story, I haven't ever made this connection. Perfect.
