Diagnosed as being short sighted.

2
Diagnosed As Short Sighted.
Recently i was given a diagnosis that one eye is short sighted (the other is almost spot on in vision). So the lenses are being changed in my specks.

Spiritually Short Sighted.
It is also true that i/we are short sighted when it comes to eternal matters.
Something comes along that i/we reckon will bring instant delight or pleasure and our mouth waters. We want it, and regardless of what it costs we desire it.
Isn't this what advertising preys upon, our short sightedness in what gives us pleasure and satisfies?

Moses had better lenses.
Moses, we read in Hebrews 11, chose to be mistreated along with God's people rather than enjoy what is described as 'fleeting pleasures of sin'. He had clearer eyesight than us. He saw eternity, and he saw the reward that God promises to the faithfull.

Change our Lenses. We need to get our Spiritual Lenses changed. To see things from a clearer perspective when it comes to sin and eternity. So that we can stand with Moses, refusing the temporal and short lived pleasures that sin or wastefullness offer us, and grasping the promise of greater things that are still to come; mainly Christ!

Look Towards The Reward.
Moses looked forward to a reward and so he layed aside sin in order to be part of God's people, even if that meant suffering. Likewise we are told to look to a reward, but this reward is greater than gold or silver, greater than health or wealth. The reward is Jesus!
We are told in Hebrews 12, ". . . let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings closely, and let us run with endurance . . . looking to Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith . . . "

Oh that we would seek to see and meet and know Jesus more and more through His Word. And that by seeing Him, we would lay down the sin and weights that cling so close to us.

Great post today, Gary. Thank you for the challenge to have our "vision" checked regularly. I hope you have a blessed day!

Thanks for this post brother. The Lord has spoken to me through this. It's nothing I didn't know already but I need constant reminders of these things.
