Sanctified By His Glory . . .

2
"Restore us, Oh God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!"

Psalm 80:3,7,19

When we see God, we change! This is why the Psalmist cries out "Let Your face shine . . . "

It is why Aaron's blessing says:

"The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace."
Numbers 6:24-26

And even more plainly stated by Paul:

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
2 Corinthians 3:18

When we behold the glory of the LORD we are radically transformed more and more into His image with each glance we see.

This is why God said of the tabernacle sacrifices etc

"There I will meet with the people of Israel, and it shall be sanctified by my glory."
Exodus 29:43

I am fully persuaded that, although God's glory is displayed in many arenas of life, it is best & most fully displayed for us in His word; the Bible. With the above verses in mind Jesus words about our sanctification take on a new insight:

"Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth."
John 17:17

Could 2010 be a year when we diligently & earnestly seek the glory of the LORD in His Word, praying that God would shine on us through the face of Jesus in His glorious Gospel?

Great comment to start off the new year. We have been praying for revival within our church for years, and at the end of this month are doing a "Faith Alive" weekend. Don't know if you all have that, across the pond, but this post really resonated with me.

I'm not sure of the 'Faith Alive' weekend so we probably don't have it here.
This has been something that has been on my mind for quite a few months, as i've become more and more convinced of it.

So excited to hear your church prays for revival. I've often thought and prayed about revival but not with any real zeal. Only after reading the Every Home Crusade book 'Through Editors' Eyes' did i really get a glimpse of it and a real desire for it.

You'r faith alive wknd sounds like a great idea, what exactly is it?
