Simeon Sums Up The Redemptive Plan

0
“Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;
for my eyes have seen your salvation
that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”

Luke 2:29-32

Simeon was an old guy who lived in Jerusalem. His words as he held Jesus (a baby at the time) are an astonishing summation of redemption. He speaks of past promises (vs29), its present workings and fulfillment (vs30), That it is God's work and not ours (vs31), and that glorious salvation would come to the Gentiles (vs32a) and to the Jew (vs32b).
