Christ Defined Vs Defined By Christ

I was thinking yesterday about our opinions of, and how we teach others about Christ. Part of this thought process ended up being tweeted, but i thought i'd share it here (with a slight addition) for those who may not follow me on twitter.


"Christ is not defined, nor revealed by our teachings & opinions of Him. But our teachings & opinions ought to be defined by the Revealed Christ."


*In this i do not mean that we do not reveal Christ at all, but that if all we have is our own opinion, or thoughts about Him and not a Biblical basis from which our opinions have been formed. Then we do not reveal Christ, but merely share our own thoughts about Him, which may be wrong.

We, therefore ought to seek to have our opinions, thoughts & teachings about Him formed & shaped from what He reveals through His Word. Our teachings & opinions must be defined by Him, not by us!
