Tracts in Western Culture
For many of us it can be easy to look at our culture & believe that the day of the printed page, and specifically that of tracts is past.
We may feel that in our culture they may not be the best way to reach people who are so immersed in the internet & other forms of media that they don't know what paper's for.
Our generation has little concentration when it comes to reading something longer than the 140 characters in Twitter & is beginning to struggle with even a longer blog post. So a tract with loads of writing . . . mmmmm?
Still a Means of Grace
I know that they are still a means of grace & a way Christ is using to reach people in the western culture because of the letters that come to Every Home Crusade, by people who've had their lives rocked by Christ through Christian literature in the UK.
Heather Mercer has kindly shared about some of the people contacting her because of the literature. I'll pass these on periodically on the blog as Heather shares them, some with more detail than others for the sake of confidentiality etc.
I trust that by this you find encouragement that tracts & Christian literature, designed for evangelism, are still being used for the glory of Christ in the UK.
Here are two examples:
*Two years ago past in November a young woman called Sharen Malone was given one of our tracts, "The Best Friend" in Belfast city centre. A few days previously Sharen's best friend, Grace, had been murdered. Grace's 16 year old daughter had found her mother's murdered body. Sharen was grieving for her friend. She wrote in to ask for the booklet, "Pardon for Sin and Assurance of Peace with God."
She then wrote a second time and I noticed that her postcode was BT1 which is Belfast city centre. I decided to invite her to my church which was meeting in the city centre at that time. Sharen came along and over the next two years I watched the Lord at work in her life.
In October 2008 Sharen was baptised in the Crescent church in Belfast. At her baptismal service she had the tract with her - this was where her spiritual journey had started. Sharen was received into membership at the Crescent in February of this year and from time to time on Friday evenings she is involved in giving out tracts from EHC with the Crescent Church.
* I'd like to thank Sharen for granting permission to share her testimony here.

Last week a young man wrote in from Dublin.
He had visited the Logos Hope ship in Dublin where he was given one of our tracts. He requested the booklet, "Pardon & Assurance."
