2 Years of Jacob

0

Today is Jacob's 2nd Birthday.
That means that 2 years & 1 day ago this little guy was in his mum's womb & prior to that he did not exist.

Now if anything brings home the finite situation of humanity that does.
As the day unfolds i'll probably post pictures onto Facebook & 1 or 2 here. But for now i simply want to say that since the first time i held this wee dude my heart has been captivated by him. In God's gracious blessing He has given me deeper understanding of those words; "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

Jacob is without a doubt one of my closest friends, & by God's grace may it stay that way.

Praying Over Him
I cannot wait to sit and talk theology with him, to discuss the glories of Christ & His Word.
But for now i pray that as Jesus said "suffer little children to come unto Me & do not hinder them", that nothing will hinder Jacob from coming to Jesus. Not me, not religion, not the evil one, not his own flesh, not the world, sex, drugs, friends, false teachings, pride, fools, etc...

I pray that God will pour grace upon him so that it can be said that He has caused Jacob to be born again through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
That he will grow in faith & knowledge, live a Spirit filled life as God, by His Spirit drives Jacob's life through His Word.

That the greatest commandments, to love God with all his heart, soul & mind, as well as loving others as he loves himself, will be increasingly upon his life.
That the fruits of the Spirit may grow more & more & that he will overcome sin & temptation in Christ's strength.

That he will live for God's glory & the good of the nations & that God would be pleased to use him to reach many with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I could go on in this way but suffice to say that i look forward to seeing God work these things out in his life as it unfolds.
As for today, i'm going to play, have fun, sing, eat cake & try as best i can to make it a wonderful day in which i'll also attempt as best as i know how, to point a 2 year old to Jesus as the author & sustainer of life. The one who gave Jacob life, breath, heartbeats, ears, nose, speech, mind & everything else.

Jesus the God who Jacob has sinned against, who will pour wrath upon him unless he repents & believes, trusting, hoping in, pinning his all upon the fact that Jesus lived, died & arose again to redeem him.

Happy birthday my son!
