How's Your Digestive System?

1

"Church people have a tonne of undigested truth."
Darren Patrick

We've alot of information; it's in the mind but it hasn't got to the heart, & it hasn't moved through to action.

Meditation is the means by which we process the information & truths that come to us; we soak in God's truth, fill our minds with it & think long & hard upon these truths. It's so easy to listen a sermon or read a book, yet come away unchanged with just a bit more head knowledge -
personally, i'm so, so guilty of this.

This is why i keep a journal, read books with a pencil & bring pen & paper to Church. It helps me to engage a step further with what is coming at me. Even this blog is a step for me to engage with truths that come my way; as I try to think them out in the posts, rattling them around my mind rather than letting them pass unnoticed by me in the hectic world we live in.

Even with these i'm a long way off; there needs to be more silent contemplation on the Scriptures; more prayer over what's coming in & more Bible memorization as i fight the tendency to read, but yet forget. And more engagement at the heart level, leading to life's actions.

Leading me to ask you "How would you advise engagement, meditation, processing & digesting God's truths as they come to our minds?"

brill post gary, and so true. just read the post by challies that you referred to. he advises not to be worried if you forget things...trust that the spirit works in you as you read good books (listen to sermons etc) and trust that the spirit works in you despite your imperfect memory.
you are doing a lot of good things to help ur imperfect memory, thanks for posting on this. even when taking notes in church i find my mind wondering...
