Principles For Giving

2
Yesterday Pastor David Dunlop gave these principles from 2Corinthians 8

Principles For Giving
  • Christian giving is an expression of the grace of God (Vs 1&2)
  • Christian giving in any climate & under all circumstances is possible (vs3)
  • Christian giving is a practice to practise (vs7)
  • Christian giving is an acid test of our love & sincerity (vs8)
  • Christian giving should be inspired by the Cross of Christ (vs9)
  • Christian giving is a desire rather than a duty (vs10-12)
  • Christian giving contributes to equality (vs13-15)
  • Christian giving has symbolic significance (context of the chapter showing Jewish & Gentile Solidarity)
(David did tell me afterward, that he gleaned some of these from John Stott)

    A Couple More Challenging Quotes
"If Jesus asked you to sell everything, as He asked the rich young ruler, would you?"

"If we are a church in which some of us have plenty and some of us have very little, something is wrong."

"What we give is not determined by the amount, but by our heart." (In relation to the widow's offering - Mark 12:41-44)

    "Our giving reveals our theology."

    Awesome. Thank you.

Much to think about - and preach on!

PS I like the site design - have you changed it recently?

Yeh, I enjoyed listening David speak this yesterday. Very convicted by it in many areas.

The site design: Yeh, thanks for encouragement, just changed the general colours & the banner last week one evening. Felt like a change.
