Personalizing Psalm 119:9-16

0
Implications and Questions that arise while reading Psalm 119:9-16 that may be good to ask ourselves.

9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word.
Do I really want to cleanse my ways? Or are there sins or hindrances that I actually want to keep in my life?
If I'm serious about cleansing my life and having victory over sin then the means of that is by taking serious and implementing the Word of God.

10 With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from your commandments!
Do I really seek God with a whole heart? He has promised that if we seek Him we will find Him when we seek Him with a whole heart, but do I really do anything with a whole heart, let alone seek after God. How serious are my desires for Christ?
And do I really want to live in light of and in obedience to His commandments?

11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
Again, as in verse 9 we see a direct link between the Word of God and our sanctification. Jesus prayed (John 17:17) 'Father sanctify them by the truth, Your Word is Truth'. The Bible is the means by which God, by His Spirit sanctifies us. Do I take this serious, and am I diligent to be reading the Bible with this in mind?

12 Blessed are You oh Lord! Teach me Your statutes.
The Psalmist here shows a high esteem for God and motivated by that moves to ask that God would teach Him. Do I esteem and regard God highly, as supreme in the Universe and does that motivate me to want to learn of His ways and from Him? (God uses many means to teach us by His Spirit; Supernaturally by His Spirit and He works through books, messages, pastors, friends, circumstances etc to teach us). Do I want to learn God's ways?

13 With my lips I have declared all the Judgements of Your mouth.
As God teaches us we ought to be motivated in passing on what we learn through evangelism, preaching, teaching etc. Do I declare God's Word to others?

14 I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies as much as in all riches.
Do I really rejoice in God's Word as much as in wealth, or more than those things I hold valuable to me? Di I find more Joy in God's word than in entertainment etc?

15 I will meditate on Your precepts and contemplate Your ways.
How much time do I spend concentrating and giving undivided attention to the Word and Works of God? To really fill the mind (meditate) with God's word I need to avoid distractions such as mobile phones, TV, game systems, Internet etc which all have their place but I need time to fully concentrate and communicate with God.

16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your Word.
Do I delight in God's Word to the extent that I'm diligent to place it to memory? Am I memorizing Scripture?
