Barbara and I went to her uncle and aunts church this morning in Wexford. It was great!
It is held in a community hall in the town and has pretty much out-grown this venue.
Peter or Ruth if you read this, thanks for inviting us along, and sorry I can't remember the church name!
During the service there was a time of worship through song, breaking of bread, and somewhat unusual to me an open time for the congregation to pray. Although this is not something i'm used to I loved it and think it is definately something that could be incorporated more into church services.
The assistant pastor spoke on the parable of the talents and showed how we as Christian's are not supposed to remain the same, but we are to use all the gifts, talents, abilities and knowledge etc that God has given us and find ourselves being more and more fruitful in love of God, in works, and that the fruits of the Holy Spirit should be becoming more evident in our lives.
We were not saved and given all the blessings that God has given us just to remain in sinful ways. Rather hatred should be turning to love; Outbursts of wrath ought to be turning to long-suffering and kindness along with self control and gentleness; Contentions & dissentions should be turning to peace & goodness and in all we should be becoming more Christ-like in every area of our lives!
