9Marks - 5

Managed to get back to 9Marks of a healthy Church by Mark Dever and read Mark 5 - 'A Biblical Understanding of Evangelism'.
This is an amazing chapter, and I definitely have a better understanding of evangelism, of what it ought not to be and of what it ought to be.
Here's a quote that helped define it for me;

"To evangelize is to spread the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins and was raised from the dead according to the Scriptures, and that as the reigning Lord He now offers the forgiveness of sins and the liberating gift of the Spirit to all who repent and believe."

Another great quote from this chapter is;

"The Gospel, in and of itself, is powerful."

To which I cry 'Amen', approach and methods may change from person to person, but the message of the Gospel is the real power. We are simply to proclaim that Gospel, the response is God the Holy Spirit's buisness with those who hear us, the proclomation of the Gospel is our buisness.
