Lessons from Jacob (Even with his silly hat)

4
Having a son a few weeks old is teaching me alot of things. Today I was thinking of how dependant he is on Barbara and I for absolutely everything. Food, clothes, protection, nappy changing, burping and the list just continues on and on.

In thinking of this I was trying to understand what that teaches us about how we, as the creation and children of God ought to relate to Him!
A Few passages come to mind;
Acts 17:25-28; Matthew 6:25-34; Psalm 103; Psalm 104; Hebrews 1:3; James 1:17
We, I, need to learn not only to utterly depend on God for all things, but whether we acknowledge it or not we are dependant upon God for everything; life, breath, clothes, children, jobs, finances, food, friends, family, water, air, cars, every single thing!
Rain, sun, harvest, every heart beat, each move of our hands, the sight of our eyes, balance to stand, absolutely every aspect of life comes from God and is given by His grace to us!

And more, all those things I listed above are cross bought acts of God's grace to all men and women, Christian or not. But to His followers, those who trust Jesus and His cross and resurrection, those believers on Him He purchased and gives so much more. Forgiveness, adoption, fellowship with God and Jesus, indwelling of the Holy Spirit and countless blessings, not to mention all those bad things that God works for good, all flow from Him!

I pray that as Jacob grows and does not depend on me and his mother so much, that he will learn and understand his utter dependance upon God! And that as an adult I myself may grasp this concept; that everything is given by Jesus and I depend on His grace for all things!

Brother I am praying that before he is very old that wee Jacob will become a joyful servant of King Jesus. Pray that Noah and Annabelle will do likewise. The alternative scares the life out of me.

It is a frightening thing to think of our children growing up and rejecting or being apethetic to Jesus!
May Christ work into their lives to redeem them!

Father, Your son said suffer little children to come unto Me, and do not forbid them, for such is the kingdom of heaven. I pray that nothing will stand in the way nor hinder Annabelle, Noah or Jacob in coming to you, neither drugs nor alcohol, nor sex or relationships, not principalities nor powers but that they may respond in faith to the calling of Jesus who does not wish that any should perish but that all should come to repentance!
May they understand Your word and by the Holy Spirit trust and follow Jesus. Sanctify them by the Word oh Father and lead them to desire that they would love You with all their hearts, souls, minds and strength. And that they may love others as they love themselves. And may You take them in helping to obey the great commission to far feilds around the world to uplift You among the nations!
Amen
