Think About What You Pray

Thomas Brooks in his book 'The Secret Key To Heaven' encourages us to pray, but also to pray with thought. "Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thy heart be hasty, to utter any thing before God" Eccles 5:2.

Specifically talking about prayers when tempers or passions are raised i think his advice can easily be carried to prayer in general. He gives us good advice when he writes:

"A Christian will wisely and seriously weigh up his prayers and praises before he pours out his soul before the Lord."

Do we really mean what we pray?
