Would We Change for Noah, Daniel or Job - Thoughts on Ezeliel 14:13-14

2
“Son of man, when a land sins against me by acting faithlessly, and I stretch out my hand against it and break its supply of bread and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast, even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Lord God.

(Ezekiel 14:13-14 ESV)

Let's do some thinking on this:
Imagine Noah, Daniel and Job lived now and called us to repent of sin and/or of being unBiblical liberals/legalists and asked for us to change.

What are you thinking?
  • I'm not a liberal or a legalist.
  • I'd listen and obey (though at the back of your mind you probably know you wouldn't).
  • LORD, forget this hypothetical question and really speak into my life and give me both the will and obedience.

I wish I could say the third, but I'm probably in the second camp. I don't think I'm either a liberal or a legalist, but if one of those men came from heaven to tell me I was, I'd probably have to figure he knew better than I did.

Instead, I'd probably make a promise I knew in the back of my head that I wouldn't keep.
