How should we take a complement?

0
One thing that constantly makes me uncomfortable after speaking somewhere is when people say how much they enjoyed you or how well you done! I never really know how to deal with it.
On one sence I'm thankful for the encouragement, yet another side of me squirms.

Recently I heard Matt Chandler asked about this and he talked about how our gifts and abilities originate from God, so we must always deflect the praise from us to Him.
A couple of quotes may be helpful for us to keep in mind; one from Richard Baxter ;

"I was but a pen in God's hand, and what praise is due to a pen?"

And John Bunyan who said;

"If you find me short in things, impute that to my love of brevity. If you find me besides the truth in anything, impute that to my infirmity. But if you find anything here that serves to your furtherance and joy of the faith, impute that to the mercy of God bestowed on you and me.”
