What are you known for?

1
I recently heard it asked "what do you want to be known for? Do you want to be known for the things you are against, or for the things that you are about?"

We all know people and of people who are known for what they shout about and contend with, people who we'd describe to others as "being the guy who is always shouting against..." or as "the heresy hunter" or such things.

In personalizing this question (especially knowing how critical I can be), I think I'd like to be known as a guy who is about loving Christ and loving my neighbour, rather than the guy who is always harping on about the "problems of..." or "the state of..."
[Think I have a bit of work to do]

Having said this I realize that we must contend against false doctrines, sinful acts and the such, but I think that even within this and above this we must strive to be known as the guy/girl who is about Christ and for His glory and as a person who is about loving God and others!

What will we be known for? Will we be known for what we are against, or for what we are about?

I like that thought Gary. i had a similar conversation with a pastor recently who described how in his early days he was a man who sought fellowship around a body of doctrine rather than with the body of Christ. We can get so caught up in arguements that we learn scripture solely for the use of winning those arguements rather than to learn more or get closer to God. We sometimes, as beleievrs, have criteria for people to follow that is nothing more than man made, we make behaviour pre-cede conversion even. Surely we should all fear judgement much more, then we mightn't be so quick to judge others.
It's easy to be known for what your against, it's harder to live for what you believe. I know too many Christians staunch on the outside and as cold as ice within.
