One of the guys brought a Bible Trivia board game to work today and over lunch we read the questions aloud to one another.
What came of this was an initial awe at two of the guys (Robin & Dougie) who pretty much got every answer right.
And
A punch in the face of any claim that I may make to knowing the Bible.
Chatting with another guy afterwards, he shared the same thought;
"I need to read the Bible more!"
They guys who were answering the questions showed, not just that they have studied at a Bible College but that they have had a lifelong love affair with this book, reading and remembering details that many of us overlook, like "What did Jacob name the place where he wrestle with God?" or "What is the middle verse in the Bible?" or "What did Jacob promise God if God would take care of him?"
These are only a few that I could remember, there were lots more; some of which were easier and some trickier. But as I write this it occurs that many of us probably have more knowledge over the details of 24, eastenders, prison break or of stargate than of the details of the Bible.
Just try it;
What is the family that runs the pub in eastenders?
and
What are the names of four of Jesus half-brothers?
(The answer can be found in Mr 6:3)
