Jim Wideman has a post on 'top 10 ministry management principles', as part of number 6 he wrote this phrase:
"When everything is said & done, there is more said than done."
This has stuck out because I can look at a long trail of talk in my life and very little action. If you're like me you talk a lot about hopes, plans, what the right thing to do is, theology, the Christian life, about time management, how things should be and yet after the conversation is finished there is very little movement toward action!
Whatever the reason, fear, slothfulness, or some other excuse we [I] often let slide some of those things that matter most, things I talk about being important are often the things I neglect to do. And some of my 'best of intention plans' never move from the page they are written on to become part of my life.
How true is the phrase "talk is cheap"?
What do I suggest we do about this?
I don't have a clue, just yesterday I committed to some needed changes, so I need to implement them. I think the best starting place would be prayer. To ask God, that by His Spirit that when all is said and done, we would do what we've said, or at least make a good effort, and that we might be driven by Him to actually get our lives behind our words.
