A quote that I've read in three separate books recently gives much to think about;
"Ecclesia semper reformada" [The Church Always Reforming].
In my experience of many, (not all), churches, even more contemporary churches is that we are not always reforming. We tend to build our own traditional way of doing things. As modern and contemporary as they may be or as traditional and old as they may be, and we stick to them.
Tradition is not in itself bad, but often it is given equal place with the gospel and we fight nail and tooth over our 'preferred' way of doing things while we neglect the weightier matters of the Word of God.
Also we as congregations and as individuals continually receiving teachings from God's word should find constant change/reform in our lives and churches according to the instructions of Scripture. We are not meant to simply stay in a constant state, but to be continually reforming to be more Christ-like.
