Last night was brilliant as Ian Decourcy challenged us from the Word of God.
I don't remember everything because i've a feeble mind, so those who were there can add on in the comments.
Two main issues struck me like a punch in the face.
1. He talked of how the "Go" in the great commission is an active, present tence word in the greek which basically means for us to be making disciples now, at this time right were we are. Rocky Balboa may as well have punched me, I so often hope for the chance to disciple and make disciples in the future that I have neglected to do it now. I could wait my whole life and make none. So it is imperative that I commit to becoming creative and couragious in an attempt to win and make disciples, teaching them to observe and obey Christ and to baptize them.
2. Ian talked of how long he'd spent seeking God's will as to where and what he should do, but realized that the most important question is "Who you are"! Knowing your identity in Christ and being a disciple, sold out in living for Jesus and obeying His word is the issue for us to concern ourselves with. And if we are 'who' God wants us to be He will lead us and guide us, sorting out and revealing the rest to us.
Ian also pointed between the parallel of Ephesians 5:18 and Colossians 3:16, 'be filled with the Spirit' and 'Let the word of Christ dwell in you' and how the results described in the following verses are identical which leads to the conclusion that the way to be filled with the Spirit is by being filled, founded, knowledgeable and obedient in the Word of God.
